Services provided at the Counseling Center are confidential.  Counseling information and records of your participation in counseling are not a part of your academic transcript.

With rare *exception,  when information regarding counseling is to be shared it is with a signed release of information form that the student has chosen to sign. This form specifies the nature of the information to be released and who it is to be released to. These forms are discussed thoroughly with students before consent is given for any information related to the student's history of services at the Counseling Center.

*Exceptions: Counseling Center Clinical staff members have an ethical duty to take whatever action is necessary to protect life when a student presents a risk of imminent harm to him/herself or another person.

Similarly, when a clinical staff member has reason to believe that a child or mentally disabled person or an elderly person is in danger of being neglected, physically, emotionally or sexually abused, that individual is obligated to report such abuse to the proper authorities.

A Counseling Center Clinical Staff member may also consult with a supervisor and/or other professional clinical staff members of the Counseling Center on behalf of a student for the purpose of coordinating care and providing the best possible service.

Thought for the Day

" Trix are for kids, but naps are not. Taking a short nap when you need one can give you the rest you need to push through a busy day. Try it for yourself. "
