Current Ongoing Groups include:
Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACOA)/Al-ANON- for students who have either grown up in a family with a parent who had an alcohol or other drug problem and/or currently have a loved one or friend that has an alcohol or drug problem. Group members learn about Al-Anon/ACOA, sponsorship, setting limits & boundaries and how to regain balance & focus in their own lives.
Bridging the Cultural Gap - for students who are facing the challenge of trying to reconcile the cultural differences between home life and school. Provides an opportunity for students to relate to other students who may be experiencing similar challenges as they clarify their beliefs and values.
Improve Your Body Image Support Group- for students who tend to have a negative image of their bodies and would like to find ways to appreciate their body shape and size.
International Student Support Group- for international students who are acclimating to a new country, language and culture. Its aim is to help deal with "culture shock", assist in the adjustment to being away from one's family and/or home country, and help build connections with peers to decrease feelings of isolation.
Mothers Who Are Students Support Group- for women who are juggling the demands of multiple roles including motherhood and being a student. Share your experiences and learn from each other ways to manage stress, manage time and other skills helpful to successfully navigating through the challenges of motherhood and academia.
Recovery Support Group – for students who think they may have an alcohol or drug problem. The group covers a number of issues which may impact recovery such as school, family, relationships, work and 12-step meetings.
